Below are answers to our most frequently asked questions. You will find more details in the Booking Agreement, or you're welcome to give us a call for additional information.
How do I book a cottage?
First, you must decide which cottage you'd like to rent. Check to see if it's available then send us an application. For more detailed instructions refer to Booking Procedure.
When will my security deposit be returned?
Security deposits are returned anywhere from 15 to 40 days after check-out. Please note that all or part of your security deposit may be used for breakage, damage, cleaning, late check-out, long distance phone calls, etc.
How will I get the keys?
The keys will be sent to you via ExpressPost a week before your scheduled holiday. If you haven't received the keys by the Tuesday before your holiday, give our office a call.
What time should we check-in/check-out?
During the summer, arrival time is 4:00 p.m. and departure time is noon. It is important to adhere to these times to allow for the cottage to be checked between rentals. During off-season these times are often flexible and can be negotiated separately. On departure, please ensure the property is left the way it was on arrival. This is the renter's responsibility.
Who cleans the cottage?
You are expected to leave the cottage in the same condition you found it in. This means that a thorough cleaning must be done by you and/or your party prior to your departure. Cleaning supplies and a cleaning check list are provided. The cottage will be inspected as soon as you leave to ensure everything is in order for incoming guests.
What do I do with the garbage?
Don't leave any garbage behind. Disposal instructions are included in the Household Rules. And remember, NEVER leave garbage outside unless tightly covered in a wood or metal container. Raccoons, bears, skunks, etc. love to eat garbage.
What do I need to bring?
All cottages are equipped with pots, dishes, glasses, cutlery, refrigerator, and oven already. Extras such as coffeemakers, etc are listed under "The Extras" in the Cottage Profile. To follow is a list of suggestions of what to bring on your cottage holiday.
Drinking water - check under "The Basics" in your cottage profile. If the water is drinkable , it will be stated clearly. If not, large jugs of water can be purchased at grocery stores.
Linens - sheets, pillowcases, sleeping bags, kitchen linens. Blankets and pillows are provided unless stated otherwise.
Calling card - for long distance phone calls. Cell phones don't always work in cottage country.
Life jackets - life jackets may be provided at some cottages but in order to work they must fit properly. It's a good idea to bring your own. Remember, an approved life jacket is required for each person in a boat.
