Fantastic!

My husband and I stayed here with some friends and our 2 month old son in 2008. Fabulous afternoon sun on the deck, great privacy, very quiet. The cottage was so spacious and we never got tired of sharing our space with other people because the place was so huge. On hotter days we could use the central air, but we would mostly have the windows open because the breeze coming through the cottage was great. The only downside were all the stairs down to the dock. It would be really inconvenient if you forgot something at the cottage and had to make the climb back.
We would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Very comfortable and relaxing vacation

Stayed for 1 wk with 2 adults, a 4 yr old and 2.5 yr old.
Cottage is very, very well equipped and exceptionally clean.
Well laid out on 2 floors with 2 common living areas...would be great for 2 families where adults and kids could each have their own hangout areas (in bad weather of course).
Lake is beautiful with very little traffic. Water was very clean.
Swimming is excellent for adults and quite good for young kids, but it's easiest to get in to the fairly sandy water from the long dock, so don't plan on hanging out while your toddler splashes around in the water. You'd have to be in with them at all times. I'd say water shoes would be highly recommended if you are used to a sandy beach, because there are rocks and such, but there are no weeds/reeds and the water is crystal clear.
Stairs were not much of a hassle, but my 80 yr old dad who came for a couple of days , only went down once and watched from the gorgeous deck the rest of the weekend due to the number of stairs.
Lots of dry hardwood and kindling was supplied that made for pretty easy fires.
Haliburton and minden both have ample shopping, but are 20 minutes drive away.
Carnarvon is 5 minutes and you can get quick supplies there.
We'd highly recommend this place to anyone, but particulary for those who want a very nice place for peace and quiet ( as opposed to a grand bend or wasaga for action).

Lovely lake for kids. Luxury in some ways, I guess.

We were happy with several aspects of our cottage: the kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were comfortable, and being up above the lake was nice with small children-it was easy to keep an eye on them. The air conditioning was a plus, and helpful for sleeping children. We loved the area, the very clean lake, and the fantastic fishing.

I did not think that the cleanliness of the cottage was adequate. Considering the clean condition we were expected to leave the cottage in and the price, I was disgusted. Perhaps we were the first renters in a while! First, my son is 1 and crawling. Within about one minute of being in the living room on the pink carpet, the tops of his feet were filthy from the dirty carpet. There were squashed mosquitos dripping down the walls in the dining area as well. Last, the comforters on the beds had not been washed in some time and had substances on them. The basement reeked of mildew, and I was glad our anticipated guests did not arrive to use it. Lastly, the bunkie was in unusable condition as it was quite dirty and unkept and I again was glad I was not counting on it for guests. The bbq tank was almost empty when we arrived, and a reserve tank would have been appreciated.

If the price had been less, I would have given this a much higher rating due to the condition of the cottage when we arrived. We love Beech lake, however, and will be looking for better-cared for places in the future, or at least more suitable prices reflecting an amount of cleanliness.
