We stayed the week of August 7-14, 2010. It took us a while to find the cottage. The roads are really winding and hilly (which was tough towing a boat). We couldn't launch the boat on the property (even though it looks like you could from the pictures). We had to go back and launch at the Kennisis Lake Marina in the big lake. There is a small bridge between the 2 lakes in which smaller boats can pass through. The cottage was adorable and tons of extra space for a larger family. The gated deck was nice, and the cottage offered lots of extras like propane tanks, firewood, watersports supplies, chairs etc.

The closest convenience stores were at the Kennisis Lake Marina, Haliburton Forest Base Camp (about 10 min), West Guilford has a small grocery/lcbo/beer store(about 15-20 min), and the town of Haliburton has full size Foodland etc (35 min).

The lake is beautiful and quiet. There wasn't any boat traffic (noise) until late morning. Please note, that if you are looking for a lake to fish on, this is not the lake for you. It is very deep and minimal vegetation. Only some small rock bass and small-mouth bass were caught. The cottage has a little beach area where you can walk out into the lake, and a huge dock (which we brought our own boat). It was a perfect vacation (minus the bad fishing), since we definitely had enough to keep busy.

Kilkenny is very comfortable. The huge deck was a godsend with two toddlers - kept them safe and sound and they could play without getting hurt. The extension was sound proof - perfect for when the kids went to bed in the main part of the cottage. All cooking utensils and dishes were all there - we really didn't need to bring anything except our linens and of course wine/food. The dock was quite large and the beach was perfect to keep the kids occupied with the sand. Our only complaint is that we didn't book for two weeks or the entire summer. Very difficult to pull out of the driveway and wave goodbye to a week of bliss.
